About Community Leadership Connection (CLC)

Community Leadership Connection

Mission:
line

The mission of CLC is to foster servant leadership within the campus members of the NGCSU and the community of Dahlonega in order to unify and integrate the two communities.

History:
line

CLC started in Fall of 2003 as a product of a group of NGCSU students who wanted to give back the North Georgia community after receiving the NGCSU Servant Leadership Scholarships. After months of research and discussion both on and off campus, these students created the Community Leadership Connection. We recognized that Lumpkin County consists of two communities, the university and the surrounding county, that have their own values and traditions. We wanted to create a third community. This virtual community connection ties the past two years of work to create this third community that will bridge the gap.

Quotes:

“The Community Leadership Connection is a powerful opportunity for students to serve the local community and their peers. I can think of no better way to improve the community than to bring the best and brightest from the college campus into the community and no better way for students to develop their leadership talents than to serve the community. I encourage students who want to enhance the quality of their own lives and those around them to join this organization."
-- Dr. Bryant

"CLC is an organization comprised of campus members who seek to develop their leadership skills through making lasting changes that affect both the NGCSU community and the Dahlonega Community. We are a fun and determined group that likes to get things done. We welcome new members who have the same passion for making a difference not only in their own lives but that of our NGCSU campus and the greater Dahlonega area."
-- Yvonne Noggle

"You cannot let someone else define community for you. You must live it, breathe it, and experience it for yourself to truly understand what community is and what its needs are. It will define itself once you understand."
-- Chris Hawlk

"I just joined, but through my involvement with other organizations on campus. I saw a huge need to have a bridge between our campus and the community. There are so many organizations that help the community and would like to do more but just don't know where to go."
-- Lindsay Gober

"Since joining CLC I feel I have a better understanding and influence in the university's policies and goals. Without CLC I'd be just another student that attends four years at a university then graduates but never really put anything extra in to help the university excel."
-- Jordan Hembree
